Happy Anniversary Bonnie!
I was going to post something about Bonnie's one year anniversary with me
this week, but I've been taking a class all week and actually forgot (bad meowmie). May 17th last year was the day I trapped her and brought her to be spayed, not even planning on keeping her. It dawned on me when I went to get a refill on Shadow's meds tonight and they asked if I wanted to make Bonnie's yearly exam appt. Now I have to decide if I should get her tested for FeLV or just go ahead and get the booster. I don't think it hurts to just shot her, but I'm curious, and not really worried since she is very healthy. I guess it is better to just reserve that test for if she becomes ill. What do you guys think? -- Cheryl |

on 21 May 2004: You won't really do anything different if she is positive, I wouldn't do it. True. The only thing I wouldn't do is have her vaccinated. I can't believe it's been a year!!! I know! Time is passing too quickly, Karen. Is that an age thing? The tech pulled her chart and saw the note highlighted that said "semi feral" and made a joke about not being in that day. lol She doesn't act very feral to me anymore, nothing like a year ago at all. At least now when I do catch her and hold her (just to get her used to it a bit) she does play "frozen kitty" so the vet visit next week should go ok. I made the appt for Sat morning and our usual routine on Sat morning is for me to get up, feed Shadow and Shamrock in the kitchen, feed Bonnie in my room and close my door and go back to sleep. She cuddles with me so I'll just have the carrier in there and when she's relaxed, pick her up and put her in. I might put the walking jacket and lead on her just for a little insurance. -- Cheryl |

Happy Anniversary to Bonnie. She's a lucky cat.
I'd just get the booster, if the vet will let you . I have had vets who insisted on the ELISA, but, dang, it's kind of expensive, $40 I think. And what difference, really, would it make at this point to know--you aren't going to be exposing her to unvaccinated cats anyway. Sherry |
