Yowie Or does the deed show a "right of way". Perhaps checking with the county (?) regarding this. )Or whatever they call the land supervisor there). MLB |

They sound like real wangers, and I wouldn't put it past someone like that! Patti Not to worry. They don't even know he is my cat, he cannot get on to their property anyway unless he does it from the roadway and he is unlikely to do so as a) he rarely goes "out the front" as there's such a lot of "back" with the other properties and mine and b) there is nothing in their yard to attract him, it's all paved. Add to that he is very shy, he wouldn't go within 100 feet of a stranger, let alone allow anyone to touch him, so he is safe from retribution I hope. Tweed |

I had the same thought. These people don't even care that you can't get out of your driveway, which could be a safety issue - what if you needed to get to a doctor in a hurry? While you stood here on one foot, nicely asking them not to block your car, they just laughed and said "too bad for you"?? These people are beyond rude. They sound really *cold*, like they don't care what happens to you at all. I'm so sorry you have to deal with that stress just after you got back from weeks away. As I said to Patti, they have no idea he is mine, it's unlikely they've even seen him, ever. I have never, in my whole life, had to deal with such people. Never mind. I am usually really easygoing and slow to anger re neighbours but they will find out how obstructive I can also be, if I want to. And I do want to now. Tweed |

It's not exactly "their property" I just have to drive over the sidewalk in front of their house to get to the dropped kerb. Sidewalks and everything "off them" belong to the local council, but because the dropped kerb is mostly in front of their house, they can block it if they want to, even it it means I cannot get out. Apparently. Could you perhaps "drop" the kerb in front of your property, as well? Yes, it looks like that's the way I will have to go. (Perhaps a friend with a pickax and shovel, if cash is tight and your local government won't do it.) I have to have planning permission (I checked) and an approved contractor :-( It will cost *so* much. They'd be cheaper than having hte curb re-done. BTW, I am no expert on law, but if you've been using their curb to get yor car out for years andyears, then you may well have a 'common law' right of access over their property and they have no legal right ot block it. Apparently not. They are impossible to reason with, so it looks like I'll have to use my savings to get my own dropped kerb installed, it's just such loadsa money from my savings I am living on atm that I'd hoped not to have to. As far as I know I've not done anything to upset them since they moved in during the summer to make them take this stance with me. Karma will get them eventually ;-) Tweed |

There is no danger to Boyfriend, Lee, so don't worry about that.

"Joy" wrote in message . .. I wanted to stay out of this. I think the neighbors are jerks at best. However, if she refuses, especially with the attitude she seems to be projecting, they'll go out of their way to block her access to the driveway forever. They can't if I have my own dropped kerb put in. If they block it then, and refuse to move I can get the police to force them to move their car. First time they will ask, second time they will be fined and every subsequent time after that. Tweed |

Tweed There is nothing worse than rude neighbors. Especially since you can't really get away from them. You have my sympathy. Jill It gets even worse. When I was finally allowed to use my foot to go down my garden today (the hospital made me promise not to walk on uneven ground until 2 weeks after my plaster was off) I discovered that they have built a wall at the end of their property (their garden is only maybe 20th as long as mine) that has come over on to my land by about 2 feet. This is going to be fun, isn't it? :-( What did I ever do to deserve such neighbours? I think that they think that because I am a woman living on my own they can take advantage of me. They think wrongly I can assure them. I'm now going to have to get a chartered surveyor in to measure out my ground from my deeds which is going to cost such a lot. Hundreds of pounds. sigh If my new neighbours think they can take advantage of me, they have another think coming. It's just so sad isn't it? I got on brilliantly with my previous neighbours. Tweed |

"MatSav" wrote in message ... "Christina Websell" wrote in message ... Hahaha. No trees will be taken and no wall will be put up. My neighbour over the road has called her house "Poplar View" so imagine the difficulty of this if the poplar trees are taken down. It cannot be done unless it's done from my side and I will say no. Indeed. You can ask the local planning authority to put a tree preservation order (TPO) on the trees, if they are of particular importance, or if you are in a Conservation Area. I suspect that having a house named 'Poplar View' nearby means that they are "of value to amenity". See http://www.communities.gov.uk/docume.../tposguide.pdf for more information, especially Section 3.1 and 3.2 -- I will have a look, but I don't think you can put TPO's on poplars and they don't belong to me anyway. Wouldn't it be great if I could? Doesn't really matter as there is no way they will be able to get access to take them down. I don't mind the leaves they shed on my lawn, they are brilliant for hiding insects that the blackbirds rake up to feed themselves in the autumn. Pity my neighbours will have to continue to sweep them up from their paving, isn't it? Tweed |
