*shudder*

I should be more charitable, but this kind of thing really freaks me out. I'm
glad the owner and vet are taking such good care of the kitten, though.

Wow. I hope the little kitty is healthy and survives!

There was a kitten like this born in the Philadelphia area within the past
few years. I think the family named it "Xerox", if my memory serves.
Unfortunately, the poor wee kitty had internal anomalies, along with the
visible difference of being born with two faces, and he didn't survive
past a few days.

Here's hoping that little Deuce is in good health and has nine lives'
worth of being pampered to look forward to.

Wow. I highly doubt it will survive. I have seen this before in a cat book I
had when I was little. I find it kind of sad as I don't think it will have
much chance.

In nature the rule is "survival of the fittest". I am surprised the
mother cat would nurse it. Usually the mother with kill a defective
kitten (or so I have read). MLB

I think it's terribly sad. I recall another kitten a year or so ago
from a link someone posted, it looked about the same as this one, only
it was gray. It only lived a couple of days IIRC.

Survival beyond a few days is unlikely (plenty at
http://www.messybeast.com/freak-face.htm) though Ditto the two-faced
pig made it to adulthood (died of pneumonia after inhaling food through
one snout while eating with the other snout). There are no reported
cases of kittens survivng long-term with the condition. Current
research suggests it isn't classical conjoined twins but is a fault in
a protein called "Sonic hedgehog" that causes structures to be
duplicated in the embryo.
