I hope Granby's friend (Granby ignores my posts me-suspects) is
re-united with her old friend. It's not a nice world for a 17 YO
cat who has never been out. I know there are web sites with a lot
of advice for situations like this.

I doubt that Granby ignores your posts. It's a matter of time
management perhaps. I read everything in reply to mine and I
appreciate every single one. I don't have enough time to reply to
everyone, I just wish I did. I pick posts to reply to randomly. I
try not to have favourites, but invariably I do.
I often choose the people who welcomed me here. I'm going to have to
look at that. It's not good enough.

Same here. There aren't enough hours in the day to respond to all the
posts, and I usually reply to the ones who answer mine too.

I don't even know what my pattern is. It is kind of _if_ I have
something worthwhile to add _and_ think no one else will add it. or
something

Well, there ya go then G

A friend was crying at work today and it seems her 17 year old grey cat
somehow got outside, and it had never been in the out before. This happened
yesterday and it was out in a pretty good thunderstorm last night. They
have half the town where they live looking for her and no luck. I told her
we had amazing luck with Purrrrs and prayers in this group.

Purrs that the grey one has found his way home already.

As I understand it, most inside only cats really freak out when they
get into the OUT. Because of this, they go into hiding, but seldom get
far from home. So, you might suggest that your friend actively check
all the hiding places, not just call and expect her cat to come when
she calls.

When the Prophet Jeff had a scare with a prodigal foster-kitty a few weeks
back, we had great luck with a humane trap. Rianna was never more than twenty
yards away from Jeff's trailer at any given sighting, but she's as slippery
as a greased piglet and we could never nab her. Within maybe three days,
maybe four, the trap was sprung and Rianna was safely home.

Keep it baited with a bowl of food; my friend from the shelter says can food
is better because it smells stronger, and keeping something with the cat's
scent near the trap helped Jeff.

Blessed be,
Baha
