I imagine it's one of those stories where we'll never know the whole
story. IIRC, the cat was 4 years old, but I don't remember any mention
how long the he/she had been in the home. I agree with you, though, if
the cat was a beloved member of this family she's still be here.

All in all though. it really sounds like she's better off in a new
home where she'll be loved even if it ends up that she has to be
medicated. Wouldn't surprise me a bit to learn that medication isn't
need once she's settled in her new home, though.
