Cat tends sick humans
I've told a lot of stories about Nocturne being a furry little tyrant,
and all of them are true... ....yet when we are sick, Nocturne is the one by our sides, tending us. When my partner got pneumonia and was too out of breath to go from the couch to the bed, Nocturne spent her first and only night in our house but NOT on our pillows. She spent the whole night on the couch tending her daddy. She would cry when his breathing was laboured and bunt him to make sure he could respond to her. She would groom him to soothe him to sleep. When I am tired or sick and have to nap in the day, Nocturne joins me. Through my ulcers and other stomach troubles, she tended me. When I am depressed she creeps up to me and bunts to show affection for me. Her official story is that "ill servants cannot perform their duties; therefore I must encourage you to recover." But when we are really ill and she cries to alert the other, or when she bunts us to make sure we are okay, we know the truth. She loves us. --Fil |

When I had my wisdom teeth out a few months ago, Stosh and Roxie and our
fosterling Brian all camped out on the bed with me, pressing themselves into me so I could feel their bulk and presence, and left only to get food or use the box. Many years ago I was in a car accident that caused ripped ligaments doen the left side of my back, and movement was difficult at best. My Fritzie spent months perched at the end of my bed like a gargoyle, as if daring anyone or anything to come near. He was usually very pricky and demanding about getting fed when he wanted and would make all kinds of noise and jump all over me, but he did none of this. He was a faithful little nurse, and gradually got back to brat behavior as I gradually recovered. She's obviously a strong-willed, no-nonsense cat who doesn't suffer fools, who knows what's important, and will devote herself to those who need her. But when we are really ill and she cries to alert the other, or when she bunts us to make sure we are okay, we know the truth. She loves us. I won't tell anyone. Joyce |
