Default BARF foods for Cats

Has anyone tried to feed the BARF ( Bones and raw foods) to kittys??

Yes, it has been discussed at length in this group. I think that the
general consensus of opinion is that the diet is fine but plenty of research
is required prior to proceeding and there is a lot more work
(preparation/shopping etc) involved than you might imagine if you are going
to really give the cat a balanced diet. It is definately a lot more work
than just buying a can of cat food off the shelf

The cat that I had as a child / teenager was always fed raw food and she
lived to be approx. 18. For years I always assumed that that was what all
cats ate but with the benefit of hindsight (and after reading some of the
previous posts with regard to this subject) I can see that we lived in a
very rural setting and I suppose she supplemented her diet with mice / birds
etc in addition to what we fed her. I think on balance, in our case, it was
probably more luck than judgement.
