Default Holly and the laser pointer

Holly absolutely adores the laser pointer. It has been one of the best toys
I found in a long time. As I mentioned on this group earlier, she leaps
into my lap as soon as I reach for the drawer where it is stored.

She runs in circles and twists and turns all around the room in an attempt
to "catch" it. At least, she did -- but she's just too smart!! She has
figured out that the light comes from that object in my hand. Today,
instead of following it around, she stopped when it would move out of her
"reach" and look back at my hand. Then she dashed toward me at incredible
speed and grabbed it. Thank goodness, she didn't use her claws because she
showed tremendous speed and dexterity as she swooped toward it.

Ah, well, that may be the end of that toy. I'll try again in a few days.

and some people think that cats aren't capable of logical thought....

Our oldest (Kirby) had the laser pointer figured out a long time ago. It was
similar to what you described. He still enjoys it, tho.

The other cats don't seem to care, but Pookie (~3 yrs) goes wild over it...

Persia absolutely loves the laser pointer. Where's the dot? She chases it
around, even to the point of spinning in circles. She finally does realize
I'm the one holding the "dot", though, and when tuckered out sits and looks
at me like "okay, are you done now? I'm ready for a nap!" (laughing)

Guess loves the laser pointer . She will chase it all around.
Harriet also likes it and has chases it around, spinning in circles
untiil dizzy (and a dizzy cat is very funny - however we only got her
dizzy once). Lita knows where the light is coiming from but will
sometimes join in the chasing.

Yeah, my hubby has one, and was amusing some of the kids with it at a family
party....likes to tell them it's a little red spider (he's wicked that way,
but they seemed to get a kick out of it nonetheless)....
