Feral / Tame Cat Interaction

I have just recently succeeded in getting a feral cat to interact with me,
and is actually very sweet and seemingly needy. My plan is to take it to
the vet this afternoon for testing, shots, spay or neuter?, etc. My real
concern here is the interaction between this new cat and my existing pets.
I have a huge 2 year old German Shephard (sweet as pie) and a 3 year old
cat (NOT sweet as pie). I was wondering if anyone had some tips for
introducing cats into my household.

We don't have a organized way of introducing, other than to quarantine
the new one in a room by itself for a week or two (depending on their
health and the outcome of medical tests.)

By this time, they've usually met the others under the door. They at
least know the smell of each other. We've had good luck with our cats
and only a few days of a minor hissing, etc., until everyone calms down.
It probably takes a couple of months after that until they are more
comfortable with each other.

Our semi-feral kitten took to our other cats far faster than she took to
us. She was completely comfortable with the other cats and they didn't
mind her at all.

When we introduced a new family of cats to our family, it was a bit much
at once. We would let the new family out when we were there for several
hours, then put them back in their room. We did this for a week or two.
If your cats show any major fighting or the new cat is afraid of the
dog, you might try the introductions slowly and put him or her back in
isolation, especially when you're not around.

We haven't had dogs, so don't know how that goes
