Default Hurricane Frances

It's been on the UK weather news tonight that Hurricane Frances is due to
slam into Florida on Saturday.
So here are my purrs and prayers that any of my new rpca friends who might
be at risk, will be safe.

Hurricane Frances is a BIG one. My parents live on an island off the
southern-most coast of South Carolina and Dad started getting worried about
this storm last week. If it makes it way up the eastern U.S. seaboard, it
could wreak havoc for quite a while for quite a lot of people. Dad is
urging mom to pack up her Royal Doulton figurines, some of which date back
to the 1920's when her mum started collecting them. And a few other things
which are not replaceable, just in case. This storm is HUGE and powerful.
I just hope it doesn't escalate from a category 4 to a 5.

Purrs and thoughts for all those in the path of Frances.
I have a grand-daughter in the Caribbean (sp!) she emailed me that they are
battening down the hatches.
Please stay safe.

Purrs that they and all in the path stay safe. Yes, it is a big
one, and they have changed the track several times so its
unpredictable.

I'm in Maryland and still remembering Isabel from last fall, so a
bit nervous, but it's several days out and no telling if it'll come
up here. We had sooo much damage from Isabel, and Annapolis was
under water in a lot of places. Same with Alexandria, VA which is
right on the Potomac. This year I now have a generator. I decided
I'm not going without power if I can help it. Isabel knocked it out
for 4 days, but most of the time it can take weeks to have power
restored.

Purrs and safe thoughts for them as well from here. We'll get Frances,
but most probably no where nearly as strong as Florida will. Be safe,
take care of yourselves, and remember to let us know how you're doing.

According to the National Weather Service it's still a Category 4 (of
5), and a strong Cat. 4 at that.

According to The Weather Channel there are several evacuation warnings
of various types going up along the southeast Florida coast. I don't
remember details, one location wanted to evacuate people with mobility
problems, there was another that had to do with Palm Beach County
(north of Miami). The National Weather Service forecast says Frances
won't come ashore until sometime Saturday. I certainly wouldn't want
to be in the Bahamas right now though, it looks like they're going to
take a direct hit.

Here's a 1-3 day location forecast map from the National Hurricane
Center:

My goodness, the slow Atlantic hurricane season sure has gotten
exciting in the last month or so...

Interesting bit of trivia from The Weather Channel - 75% of all Cat 4
and 5 hurricanes that strike the US hit Florida or Texas.
