Default U.S. report: One in four pets obese

WASHINGTON (Reuters) --Overweight Americans and Europeans are
overfeeding their pets, too -- and putting their health at
risk, according to a U.S. report issued on Monday.

Sounds like a national epidemic, we need laws against it! We need to sue
the pet food manufacturers! ROTFL BJ

Yeah, and we can also sue the people who feed their pets enough to make them
fat!

whereas dogs can get along fine on balanced vegetarian diets.

Bull****. Dogs eat meat.

So do humans but that doesn't make us (or dogs) carnivores. Dogs, like people,
are omnivores.

The best balance of protein and carbohydrates is also different for cats
than for dogs.

Which leads me to conclude that animal diets have the same problem as
human diets: being stuffed full of cheap, empty calories from corn
derivatives.

Corn is actually a very good ingredient--especially for dogs. It's high in
lineoleic acid, doesn't cause hot spots, and is highly digestible (when ground
and cooked).

Try feeding your dog a natural diet, i.e. meat. My dog stays slim and
healthy
on a nearly 100% meat diet. And no, it's not more expensive than dog food.

What are the phosphorus and calcium levels of the "diet" you are feeding?
