Default It was horrible.

I just got housing after the flood and access to the internet.
I lost my cat of 14 years. I had to leave her behind.. cats
hate water. Now, I am not allowed back in to save her.
*sighs*
I guess it was meant to be.
A boat pulled up to me as I tried to walk out of the filth
and took me to a highway ramp. I asked if they would
take me to my home so I could get Thumper, but they said no.
I just cried. I am still crying. The thoughts that my Thumper is
still in my house are killing my heart daily. Its been 5 days.

That is just awful. Where exactly were you? And where are you now?

Please contact Noah's Wish and request their help in locating and evacuating
your cat.

Noah's Wish is run by Terri Crisp, who wrote Out Of Harm's Way, the story of
how emergency animal rescue services began. It is well worth reading:

Mary, thanks for posting this. I am looking to donate to one of these
organizations. Is bestfriends.org reputable, do you know?

I'm not sure about bestfriends. I have read very good things and also a few
negatives, but I don't have any reliable information. I think both Noah's
Wish (http://noahswish.org/and) Alley Cat Allies
(http://www.alleycat.org/katrina.html) are excellent sources for donations.
I have worked with Alley Cat Allies locally. In addition, they have
volunteerrs who are local to NO who are working on the situation, so they
are likely to have a better "feel" for areas to check.

Thanks, Mary. I really appreciate it. I think I'm going to go with
Alley Cat Allies.

Oh my god. I am so sorry for your having to go through all of this!!!
What could you do, though? You would've done something if you could.
Send prayers for your Thumper and I'll send prayers for both of you.

I am at a couple home in central florida that drove up to LA and they saw me
and offered a much more comfortable environment. My heart breaks for the
animals and the people that are still there. I was in my home about 2 miles
from
the ramp I was dropped off at near 10.
