Rhonda Rhonda, this is Usenet, not a high school hall between classes or a therapy session. And you are not sitting in some position from which you are qualified to judge behavior or comments in this condescending manner. Or are you? Is there some qualification you have that I don't know about? Yes, this is usenet and I know it's a license to say whatever comes to mind and have a free for all if you want. No formal qualifications on my part, just curiosity. One thing I always wonder about is how someone can just go off on someone else on usenet, I mean sling insults and say things that I can't believe they'd call their worst enemies in real life. There are things here that get under people's skin and get their goats, and I mean untie them and take them to a whole different barnyard. I agree with CN. But of course we are all entitled to our opinions. What you don't see is me or CN telling you that yours are not valid, or attributing them to some sort of "psychological state" you are in. Ugh. The drama thing was a huge topic in the other group with CN and Kyla. This is the kind of **** men have done to women to discount and invalidate them for centuries. Well, I didn't think of it that way, so now that we women can notice behaviors or contradictions in others and verbalize it, is that a step up or a step down? Rhonda |

Just replying in kind, Rhonda. Maybe you haven't read the posts (maybe 5 or 6 now) with the ad hominem attacks she's been leveling at me, calling me a bitch, accusing me of abusing my cat, etc. I didn't answer most of those, just let them to. Any why did she spew all that vitriol? Just because I agreed with Cybercat that she is probably a troll (the definition of a troll in a cat's newsgroup being posting things like "oh my cat is horribly mutilated, it's legs are dangling by threads, I can't afford a vet, please help me" - which is *exactly* what -Lost was doing. She jumps back and forth between sweet and caustic, logical and blathering. Maybe she can't help it, maybe she's bi-polar, but at this point it doesn't matter to me. Attack me enough, for no reason, call me a bitch 20 - 30 times, accuse me of abusing my cat, and I *will* eventually attack back. Simple as that. Enough is enough. I honestly missed all of that, I haven't been reading as many posts through the summer. You are usually pretty cordial to people, I didn't know why you went off like you did. Tough week for everyone, eh? Rhonda |

Rather than call CN down in the group, why not email her? That way you won't look like a condescending, controlling person. One person's passion is another person's "drama." |

"CatNipped" : Maybe not. I have osteopenia (sort of "pre-" osteoporosis) and have still been given a good chance. They, now-a-days, hold the bones together with a titanium plate - that pretty much does the trick except in rare cases. raises white flag (for a moment) What do you mean by given a good chance? That it will not turn into full-blown osteoporosis? Or a good chance your bones will not be affected as badly? She means in context that the bone insert will grow in as it's supposed to. I'm still trying to figure out what the hell "lifestyle advice" meant on the Wikipedia article for osteoporosis. Probably that some changes are apt to be needed, both in diet and exercise. |

But smoking is a *large* factor in the progress of bone decalcification. I don't smoke or drink (or do drugs) so it didn't apply, but my surgeon told me I couldn't smoke for the 8 months it will take for this bone to fuse. Hugs, CatNipped |

But smoking is a *large* factor in the progress of bone decalcification. An elderly family member has osteoporosis and is a heavy smoker. She broke both arms and wondered why they did not heal properly. You should have seen the contraption she devised to allow her to smoke hands free, the first time one of us turned our backs for five minutes. (We took care of her instead of putting her in a facility.) She has just been diagnosed with emphysema, and the mere suggestion that she should quit seems to have made her so nervous she is smoking more. She is also a recovering alcoholic. I don't smoke or drink (or do drugs) so it didn't apply, but my surgeon told me I couldn't smoke for the 8 months it will take for this bone to fuse. My mother had spinal fusion surgery that never did heal properly. (She died from something else before it could, but she smoked heavily, even after.) Like it or not, the choices we make have consquences. |
