Tweed, I'm so, so sorry. This is horrible, your heart must be broken
in pieces. Poor KFC, she probably went out for some fresh air, couldn't
get back inside, and went off wandering. At her age, you couldn't have
known how long she had left, but she wasn't showing any sign of leaving
this earth immediately.

How could they do this? They never even tried to find you. This is
just so wrong.

Purrs for you, and for the internatioannly-loved KFC. I will send an
email to that vet (I've read the entire thread before responding). I
really hope this makes them stop and think in the future!

Sadly,

Oh, this is cruel news!

KFC, who fought so hard to live (with much work and help from you, of
course!) MURDERED BY A VET!!!

It's almost beyond belief.

The sheer idiocy of the person who made the decision: it should have
been obvious that this very elderly cat was someone's beloved pet.

Otherwise, she would have died, long ago.

Why didn't they wait a few days, to see if the owner turned up, or put
up posters?

Because whoever made this decision is an idiot of the first degree. A
moron. A cretin. A dimwit. An ignoramus. An imbecile. And a rat *******
*ssh*le, to boot.

If a vet did this to my beloved cat, no level of 'protective custody'
could protect him from my wrath.

I remember last spring, when KFC was doing so poorly, and you were
wishing for just one more summer with her.

We all sent purrs.

And, you got your summer with KFC. and fall, and winter, and part of
spring, too.

I was just thinking, before this came up, how nice it would be if you
could have another summer with KFC. Just one more summer.

I'm so very sorry for your horrible, terrible loss.

I was so hoping for a better outcome than this... Christina, I can't
really add any better words than what everyone else has already
written, but my thoughts are with you.

My deepest sympathies. We'll all be missing her with you.

oh....

my...

god....

I am just speechless....

completely speechless....

I would call up the vet and give them a piece of my mind. I would sue
them for mental and emotional distress. I would post a sign on their
door with your story. I would walk into the vet clinic and demand in
front of everyone to speak to the person who made the decision to put
down KFC.

I cannot believe they wouldn't look for the owner.

the only thing i can think of is that they assumed, wrongfully so,
that because the cat was so old and frail that it had no owner.

holy crap, i am just in shock....

When I read this news my heart fell, and I am in tears at KFC's loss.
She was the underdog cat of RPCA who started as merely a venerable
cat, but whose continued feisty life simply became amazing the more
years and ailments she accrued.

We wanted it to continue forever. Of course, we always want it to
continue forever, but that's impossible. But she could have had some
more time, and I wish she did.

Christina,

Wow, what a horrible thing you're going through. I cannot even imagine
being sick and having an emergency operation, then coming home to this.
You need time to heal physically, let alone deal with such emotional trauma.

I have a suggestion which you can take or leave, but I think it might
help to out what happened at the vet as soon as possible. I know you're
upset and angry but holding all of that inside without talking to them
is going to be more hard on you physically. If you can't do it yet, do
you have a friend you could send to the vet's office? Maybe someone who
knew both you and KFC well? Have them sit down and get all of the
details for your own piece of mind. Have the friend convey what KFC
meant to you and see what exactly happened that day and why they would
ever do what they did. Later on when you're ready, you can talk to them
yourself.

This is so unimaginable. Take of yourself right now, Christina.

I've just checked in for news since I was last here and I am just so very
sorry, Christina. I can't even find the words.

I'd like to add to this that it's probably better to try to find out
now than a month from now - by then they might not remember it very
well. It sounds like they didn't do very good record-keeping as it is,
so you'll have to depend on the memory of whomever was there at the
time.

I like the suggestion of getting a friend to go - maybe June will be
willing to do that? Especially since you're too upset right now to
talk to them.

there are no animals and cars here. I will have a calm and collected

one.

I am sorry to hear about kfc. You obviously have some reason for
believing the cat pts was KFC. Perhaps you and June just visit as early
as possible maybe a few days with a recent pic of KFC if possible to
make sure. If not perhaps bring a pic with you when you talk to the
"vet" perhaps it will make him feel more guilty or something but I doubt
it. I hope that perhaps it is not KFC.

You and June have my condolences and deepest purrs.

cl.
