Default horse spittal

B*gg*r.

Just spent the day at horse spittal. Vernon has snapped his achilles tendon
in his left foot and done some sort of strain of his right foot.

He is now at home with a temporary cast on his left foot and using a 'zimmer
frame' to walk. Currently he is on the sofa with his feet *up* having a
much-needed snooze.

I've got to get him back to horse spittal on Tuesday morning, first thing,
to attend fracture clinic to see What Happens Next.

Purrs on the way for Vernon and his long suffering carer.

I know what a zimmer frame is, but it took me several minutes to figure out
"horse spittal." I had this strange picture in my mind of a horse stretched
out on your sofa. LOL!! ;o)

Purrs for Vernon to have a full recovery. Did he injure cycling?

Wow, does that ever sound horribly painful!

I am fairly certain that this will require surgery to correct. The
tendon tears off the bone (ow! ow! ow!) and then needs to be reattached,
for it to heal.

Possibly, there are degrees of tearing, so in some cases, surgery might
not be necessary. Lets hope for that!

Get well purrs are on the way.

*Ouch!* Here's purrs and fast healing wishes from across the
pond! Hope there are no complications, and that everything gets put
right quickly!

Purrs for you all to be doing better soon, Helen. Googled Zimmer Frame to
see what it looks like. does he have the "new" one with the computer screen
and all the bells and whistles or the basic one? It looks like an angled
version of what we call a walker out here in the sticks.

Vernon put some music on loud in the living room and decided that whilst
doing a post of tidying, he could improvise as regards a bit of exercise. So
there was my bloke strutting his funky stuff to Elton John 'Saturday Night's
All Right For Fighting' and not being 25 anymore and trying to shake his
tail feathers faster than Anode & Cathode, he snapped his achilles tendon.

LOL!! That happened to me a number of years ago. I got my injury from
salsa dancing, and becoming just a bit overconfident. Pulled a tendon in
my pelvic area, which took months to heal, although it was very painful
for only a few days. But yes, I felt like the typical middle-aged office
worker, trying to show off how I still had it, and ending up in the
bathroom with an ice pack.

Then hopping about on his other foot to get to the phone to call me, he
strained his other leg, calf/ankle area

Oh, dear! "Note to self: stop moving."

Doesn't exactly have the kudos of "I broke my ankle skydiving" ;-)

It seems that most injuries don't. My worst back problems all have
enthralling stories such as, "I was reaching for a pot of coffee when
my back went out."

*points finger and laughs at spouse* ;-)
