Normally when Tiger meows it is almost silent. I know he can make a
sound when he wants to. Last week during several vet trips (for
antibiotic shots) he spoke up loud and clear.

Rusty is the same. He is normally a very quiet cat, but save his
loudest at the vet. At least he is more quiet now on the way there.

Roxy is the same way. When we're at home and she just wants to say
hello, or get some food, etc, she'll open her mouth and and almost
nothing will come out - maybe a little tiny "eep". But yep, just like
you said - when we're on the way to the vet, she suddenly seems to
find her voice, and it sounds quite normal.

Imp is the quietest cat I have ever known. Which is odd because his
foster mom that rescued him named him Boomer. apparently when he was
a kitten he had a LOUD meow.

Now...Hardly meows...ever.

Sometimes when they are all in the zoomie mode, i'll hear a meow that
I KNOW is not Mischief or Mayhem.

The only time i've heard him audibly........when its bathtime.

Every time i've given him a bath, he'll let out at least one mournful
yowl.

But he is sooooo silent, i call him my big black panther.
