Default New Year's WTF???

A rumor has started in Buffalo that Dick Clark's image on the ball-
drop program was actually well-crafted computer-generated graphics, a
glorified Max Headroom. Did it not have a sort of slightly jerky,
computer-game look to it, or was it the cheap free "champagne" the
bowling alley gave us during karaoke?

Blessed be,
Baha

I thought it looked like a guy who'd had a stroke.

I had more fun watching the coverage on a different network. Who would
have thought it would be CNN that would have Anderson Cooper and Kathy
Griffin as their broadcast team in New York?

She'd make some pop culture reference, and he'd look at her like "WTF
is she talking about?" I didn't really realize AC was so out of touch
that he wouldn't know who Pam Anderson is (to me it appeared that he
didn't have a clue)

Poor Dick Clark has had several strokes. It broke my heart when I saw him
last NYE

Default New Year's WTF???

It WAS a 79 year old guy who had a stroke. A guy who had done this
celebrating thing for so many years he, and his family, didn't want to not
have him do it because it was important to him. Go Mr. Clark, GO as long as
you can!!!!!

I found it painful to watch him. I assumed his appearance and voice were
the result of his strokes, but I admit it did cross my mind that it almost
seemed like an animation, rather than a live person.

The slightly jerky, computer-game look was much more muted this year
than it has been at any New Year's Eve since he had his stroke.
Repatterning seems to be working well for him, but it's still a very,
very slow process.

I read that many of his friends didn't want him to be on
TV last night but, as hard as it is to see him like this, I would have felt
worse not seeing "an old friend" at all. I also thought he was better than
in the past.

You know, I didn't see it live, but I did watch a brief bit on
Youtube. He sounds (and looks when he's trying to speak) just like my
Grampie, after his third stroke.

As for the *way* he looks, that I couldn't say. I haven't actually
watched a countdown show for several years, so I don't have a frame of
reference, other than the perpetual teenager which he is obviously
isn't any longer.

No idea on whether it was "real" or not, but not out of my realm of
experience. I couldn't watch much, just made me want to cry. I
always loved watching him, especially when he laughed.

Not being familiar with you in this ng, what I've seen soean't look
like our
usual "cat-group troll" so I'm replying sincerely that I totally agree
with your
suspicion PC graphic/sound complimentary doctoring by experts in
same....

You may be familiar with me through former posting through CatKB,
which hasn't worked out well. And I am more out oof touch than AC, not
having known that DC had had a bunch of strokes. My bad.

Blessed be,
Baha
Not, I hope, a troll

Baha, is that German-based news server service (individual.net) not an
option for you?
