Persiakeeps trying to get me to give her more cat food. She's yowling and
meowing at me. Food, please? No, it's not time yet! I'm getting yowled
at, tapped on the side and stared at. Yawned at and peered at with big
green eyes. NO! It's not *time yet* you goofy cat!

She's so funny. Even though the vet said she lost a pound she looks bigger
than ever... dangit! She's so funny. She definitely doesn't look like she
is starving!

Poor Persia

Heck, a lot of that is fur. And she lost a pound on the old rations.
Wouldn't she keep losing if they stayed the same?

Just askin

I don't know what Jill's vet had in mind, but in general, if you diet
by eating a healthy but restricted amount of calories, eventually you
will get to the point where you've lost enough weight that that amount
of calories is enough to maintain your weight -- then if you still
need to lose weight, you need to cut the calories further (or increase
exercise, but it's hard to get kitties on a treadmill!)

Well she was 17 lbs which is a lot for a cat, although I have to say she's
LONG This girl can stretch out to half a yard! But he wants her to be
14 lbs. which apparently is sort of a reach for her. She only eats 1/2 a
cup of food a day. But this prescription food is apparently very high in
carbs. It keeps her bladder healthy and thank you for not another $900
bladder stone surgery! but... hey you can't have everything, right? So she
might get down to 15 lbs when I cut her back to 1/8 of a cup in the evening.

It does sound like a tiny amount of food -- either that food is
incredibly dense, or Persia has a very slow metabolism (or both?).

Good luck with the new food restriction. I'm sure Persia will lay on
an incredible guilt trip.

The funny thing is, I already gave her 1/4 of a cup this morning and she
hasn't eaten half of it. But she's crying like she wants more! I think she
has a sense that I'll be cutting it back, so she's cutting it back herself
and then making a fuss about it. Yes, the guilt trip is already in force!
