Yeah, now it just makes me sad for her. It explains the behavior though.

I still don't feel much pity for her. As I see it, she's made her own
bed, and she's the one who has to either lie in it or make herself a
clean one. And she doesn't really seem to be heading towards the
latter choice.

Well, on second thought, sad for her kids mostly I guess. They're too little
to have any kind of choice.
