She was 12 years old. Persia kept going up to the cage and peering at the
bird over the last couple of days. I thought she was just trying to hassel
Rachel; turns out she knew something was up. I found Rachel at the bottom
of the cage this afternoon.

Jill

I am sorry to read this; we send purrs and condolences, and will light
a candle for Rachel the parakeet's passing.

Sorry to hear that, Jill. They have such big personalities for such little
bodies.

Our condolences,

Oh, Jill, I'm sorry. I'm pretty sure the budgies are playing with the cats at
the RB while they're waiting. 12 years is a good long life for a parakeet. You
must have taken excellent care of her.

I am so sorry, Jill, that Rachel has had to make the trip to the Bridge.
I know that she meant a great deal to you. We shall light a candle
tonight to help guide her on her journey. Hobbes, Selena and Lacey are
sending special purrs and gentle headbutts to you and Persia and the
rest of your family.

I'm so sorry, Jill. What a smart kitty Persia is. Purrs for you both.

Thanks for everyone's kind wishes. I buried Rachel next to Taz out back
under the magnolia bushes this morning. Now I've got two empty parakeet
cages to deal with (sigh).
