Thanks! I'm noticing, though, that the traffic here is *very* light.
For
all of today (it's almost 3PM here), I have only gotten 3 posts. Is
that
what it's been like for everyone else? Or are you seeing more posts
than
that? I can't tell whether it's just a slow day, or eternal-september
doesn't get all the posts. I mean, neither does sonic.net, but e-s
seems
to be getting far fewer, if what I'm seeing here, and on other
newsgroups
I read, is any indication.

It might be a good idea to respond to me by email - if I'm missing a
lot
of posts, then chances are, I'll miss your response, too. Don't
forget
to remove the XXX from my 'nym before sending.

You are right -- I've seen only a cople today and hardly any yesterday.
I am not on FB so don't know anythinmg about that. Best wishes. MLB

FB is getting hundreds of posts a day.

That will not make me go there. My employers told me not not to as I
could
be stalked by previous *clients*
So I won't.
It's a pity really, as I would quite like to.

Although, I prefer usenet for rpca.

I'm sorry too. I haven't had any problems because of it, and neither have
millions of others going by how many people around the world continue to
use it.

RPCA is nice there also in that it has gotten quite a lot of "new" members
from people asking to invite friends who are also cat slaves and by far
they have been very sweet and nice and have added a lot to the mix.

I thought you said you didn't like FB either a while ago.

I didn't but I got used to it. I felt really left out and alone since
almost everyone has left here and I like being back in touch with ALL of
my friends.

As others have said, you can put in completely false personal information
so that nobody could possible connect your FB account with you unless
they were an expert in internet spying and in that case they'll get you
here just as, if not more easily.

I counted (I get mine via email and can count by day) and there were 251
posts yesterday and it wasn't a particularly active day. When there is
something particularly interesting or controversial we can easily get 4 or
5 times that. It's super easy for people to post pictures so I'm seeing
cats for the first time that I'd only heard about from people here.

Who the heck wants all that extra email?! I get enough as it is. See my
post entitled Facebook (Again). Somehow my account was reactivated. My
inbox was flooded with notifications about FB posts via email. I had no
idea what had been discussed or what the posts were about. I've deactivated
the account again.

It's easy enough to set a switch to "no notifications" and you won't get
the emails - I chose to get them because in Outlook I can sort them
however I choose instead of being forced to one format.

Not enough time has gone by yet. People in my line of work are sometimes
not the favourite of ex-clients. My employers were sensible to advise us
not to use FB although they did not ban us from it, they couldn't. They
thought it put us at risk of retribution. You have to realise that some of
the people we dealt with were violent and dangerous, which is exactly why we
were involved and had to make hard decisions about. This does not go down
well.
One of my colleagues had to have a tracker on her mobile phone because she
had received death threats (not because she was on FB, of course ;-) ) but
you get my drift.
Some of the clients are like that. Somehow, they think it helps their case.
Like you can frighten us off by threatening violence. Gives us loads of
confidence about the care of your children then. NOT.
Imagine the Jeremy Kyle show x many times with violence.

Yeah, I understand, I never did like it either - still don't really -
but I liked talking to my friends more than I disliked FB.

If you were advised that it could be a danger to your personal safety, would
you use it?
It's not about disliking it.

All child care team members were advised against it, have ex-directory
telephone numbers and have been taken off 192.com (a UK thing where people
can pay to look you up and find out where you live.)

I've seen a Facebook page and it seems to me that you cannot have a decent
conversation on it. Everything seems to be one or two or three sentences.
