Jellicle Ball: Calling the Names of Honorees
(A large white Persian respectfully approaches the Altar of Bast as
the full moon slowly rises. He is wearing a white vest, adorned by a small pin in the shape of a winged cat, and a watch-chain with a red heart tag attached to it. He touches the heart, gently, as he places the List on the lectern.) Good evening, ladies and gentlecats, and welcome to the sixteenth annual Jellicle Ball. We are here to pay tribute to friends, family and those whose names we did not know but whose plight touched us, who have gone to the Rainbow Bridge. We grieve their passing, we lament their loss. We celebrate their lives and the love we shared, and hold tight to the knowledge that the place each one claimed in our hearts is within us for as long as we draw breath. And we treasure the sweet memories, which warm us when all seems cold.
