TED says he has an inner ear infection, that could be detected by watching
his eyes! He will be taking Cephalexin for two weeks and if that does not
solve the problem the drug will be changed.

He does still have one molar on the top right but the gum is swollen over
it.

The worst news is he is totally blind in his right eye. I did not know that
before today but was not too surprised, since the eye has been bad ever
since he adopted me.

His temp was 102.4. This morning he was out chasing frogs so I guess he's
not too bad off. Wouldn't want to see him get any worse though.

TED's bill was just about 11% of my monthly income, which I can handle
unless it happens more than once a year :~\

Many purrs for Abelard to respond well to his meds (glad it is able to be
helped by antibiotics!) and commiserations on the expenses (been there,
done that, and still doing it).
hugs and purrs,

Purrs and healing thoughts still going out to him and no more out of
pocket expenses thoughts and purrs going to you. BTDT with the
expenses, but made it thanks to this group.

Yikes- I've just now seen this thread. I'm glad that you've had a diagnosis
and we'll be sending healthy thoughts Abelards way.

I'm late with the purrs, but here they a for Abelard to heal well
from his infection and for your wallet. if Abelard was out chasing
frogs, he can't be that bothered by being blind on on eye. As we all
know, Waffles, the one-eyed wonder cat, is an excellent huntress despite
her handicap. I know there are several other one-eyed cats out there who
do just fine. Not to mention the completely blind ones!

Saturday afternoon he was coughing and acting a little strange, a visitor
noticed he was lurching as he walked. I didn't see it right away but I've
been seeing it since then, he sometimes sways like he's about to fall over
but then catches himself.

I'm a little worried that whatever the trouble is might be beyond this

rural
vet's ability to handle not to mention being much more costly than I can
manage. I checked him over and noticed that all the teeth behind his upper
right fang are gone and the area is very bright red. Perhaps infection

went
through the sinus into his brain and is causing damage to the motor

control
area.

Will post again when I know more.
