Default dirty face

my cat absolutely HATES the kittymalt hairball remedy .....she is worse than a
little child when I try to give it to her...closes her mouth EXTREMELY tight
and moves her head from side to side...a few days ago, i gave her some of this
hairball stuff right before i had to leave for work.. and some of the stuff got
on her face... on her face, sort of behind the whisker area on the right
side... i just left for work assuming she would wash it off... well she didnt..
now she has this brown, hardened area on her face and i cant get it off.. i
tried washing it off with a washcloth and that doesnt seem to work.. does
anyone have any suggestions??? it would be very much appreciated

We had a similar experience with Amelia. My wife wanted to wipe a blob
on her fur where she'd have to lick it off, but Amelia wasn't too keen
on the plan and moved, so got the blob on her back. Wife left it there
thinking Amelia would find a way to get it off, but she didn't. Ended up
with a lump o fhardened petromalt stuck in her fur. We ended up taking
scissors to it to cut it loose. I can't think of any way to remove your
kitties, either, other than cutting. Very carefully, of course!

Rocky is just now regrowing fur on on a couple bald spots he has on
his back and side. Not from petromalt, though. He visited a neighbor
who is doing some renovating and managed to get adhesive, which I
ended up cutting out.

LOL! She's a clever kitty. I thought there were hairball medicines
that cats actually liked?

Not so clever, if she now has a blob of the stuff cemented to her face!
One of the Whiskas brand "Temptations" treats is for hairball control -
Melisande, who also does not like petromalt, really loves those. She's
ordinarily not particularly food-oriented, but she's yet to be choosy
about the treats - when I drop the recommended dose on her tray, they're
gone practically before I turn around.

A lot of cats LOVE petromalt - I've had a number who would
enthusiastically lick it straight from the tube. A friend of mine had a
cat who liked it so well that he'd position himself under the drawer
where she kept it and cough, in hopes of getting some as a treat!
