Update on Obese Cat

Some of you may remember in Berlin back in April a cat was turned over to
animal control after its owner went to a nursing home. The cat was grossly
obese, 18.5 K. I just read an update that said the cat had lost 14.5 k and was
placed with a new owner.
Is that possible or a misprint? 14 k since April? That would make the cat weigh
only 4.5 K. Can someone tell me how much that is, in pound/ounces?

4.5 kg is about 10 lb., which is a reasonable weight for a large house
cat. 18.5 kg is 41 lb., which is an awful lot. 31 lb. weight loss in
3 months hardly seems possible.

Well, that just plain has to be wrong. No way could it have lost that much
unless it had an operation or something. I'd like to see a picture.

Well, that just plain has to be wrong. No way could it have lost that much
unless it had an operation or something. I'd like to see a picture.

Remember when I posted this pic and everyone said it would be dangerous for a
cat to lose that much weight that quickly. Well it happened. My cat on the
right weighed 11 lbs.

It took *me* 6 months to lose 35 lbs. I doubt it would be possible for a
cat to lose that much in half the time.
