Taking the Dog to the Vet

We all know the various and sundry efforts involved in getting one of our
feline masters in to consult with TED.

Thought I'd share the details of taking Kayla to the vet just for
comparison.

For appointment at 2:45 for heartworm test.

At 2:30 pick up car keys and head to garage. Try not to slam car door on
tail of dog who already beat me to the car.

Flip up console cover to keep dog out of drivers seat.

Slip leash on dog as she joyfully leaps out of the car at TED.

Hand leash to vet tech who takes dog for blood test. Sit for eight minutes
with dog asleep between your feet while waiting for test results.

Back to car, remember to lock automatic windows so she won't open hers.
Arrive home, open car door and get out of the way.

I remember that with my little mutt, Sampson. He didn't care where we were
going, it was "Gonna get in the car? gonna ride someplace in the car? Hooo
boy! It's a car ride! I'm going in the car!"

Didn't matter that he'd get poked, prodded and sometimes pilled, he was so
happy.

Cara is the same way. She goes to "Fat club" every week to be weighed
because she is on a diet. She *loves* going to the vet because they
all make such a huge fuss of her. She trots in with her tail wagging,
laughing her socks off because she's on an outing!

Kayla is now on a diet as well. Or at least from now on her food will be
measured, not just a heaping bowl full.

I wouldn't say she is at all fat, but she has gained two pounds in the last
year and she was just fine two pounds ago. I figure its easier to put the
brakes on now, while she can still handle a hard workout.

Bet the two of them could have so much fun together.
