Caroonist says goodby to his pet

This is about a dog, but it's not entirely off-topic in this newsgroup
because of my own way of paying tribute to another pet who's no longer
with us - my cat Bobby. Chip Dunham, the comic strip artist who draws
"Overboard", paid a lovely tribute to his Labrador Basil in the June
30th strip (link below). The next day D.D. Degg wrote about it in the
newsgroup rec.arts.comics.strips, and I replied to him.

Dear D.D.D:
I really appreciated that strip when I read it. It was a fitting
tribute to Basil, especially the quote from a reader who wrote to the
cartoonist, "My sympathy to you, Chip, but Basil will live on in your
readers' hearts and yours and as long as we live so will Basil."

In my own way, I pay tribute to the late Bobby, my white faux-turkish
angora cat, every time I sign a newsgroup post or send an e-mail.
