I don't know why but was thinking of dog that followed me home from school when I was in first grade . I was 5, am now 63, was a chow, reddish brown, have no pics, except memories of good dog . We named him Poochie . Don't know why I was thinking of him, as have not thought about him in years . also was thinking of my dad, who has been gone 20 years . -------------------------------- does anyone else think of their pets that have been gone so long ? * Of course we do. The tale of my mother's stubborn, unfixed poodle holding up traffic as he pursued his courtship with the young lady poodle next door is a legend 25 years after Bozer's retirement to happier lands. My husband and his family tell stories of the neighborhood cats who grasped the concept of hockey. Their cat Sprinty and his buddies around the block chased a sponge puck around the family's backyard ice rink, swatting it into the net and fishing it back out. This was nearly 30 years ago. Our pets are like our crazy Aunt Martha who held afternoon tea for leprechauns or 90-year-old Grandma giving the finger to customs on the way back over the border from the casino. They're our family; they're colorful little people with personalities and quirks; and some of the best story fodder to be had. Our Fritzie has been gone for almost 8 years now, as still we talk about his intelligence and loyalty. Odessa left us, far too young, in 2007. Do your funny bone a favor and google "Mad Odessa" and find our favorite story of her short life with us, about how one little cat can make her opinion known to noses far and wide. How can we NOT remember them??? Blessed be, Baha |
