Another boat adventure for Cinder and Rosie

This weekend Jim and I went by boat to a marina about 20 miles from here.
At our speed, that is about 3 hours.
We planned to take Cinder and Rosie, but not sure about Friday's weather
forecast of wind and rain. That could make crossing the bay a little rough.
It would be fine for us, but we are working on getting the cats used to the
idea of living aboard with the least stress possible.
So, Thursday, we drove a car to the marina and left it, just in case.
Friday, Jim and I took the boat, but left Cinder and Rosie at home because
of the weather report of stormy weather. And we kicked ourselves because
the water was totally calm the whole way and the rest of the afternoon.
Anyway, once we were docked, we got in the car we had left at the marina and
drove home and got the cats and took them on a land cruise to the marina.
When we released them on the boat, they quickly found their favorite spots
to view the activity outside the windows and didn't mind that we kept the
doors shut to keep them inside the cabin.
The weather hit Friday night, with a lot of wind and rain, and continued
until Saturday afternoon. The cats didn't want to go outside in that,
anyway.
Cinder had a good romp with the feather-on-a-stick toy, while Rosie chose to
watch.
Cinder caused me a scare Saturday afternoon.
I noticed that I had not seen her for some time and began to look for her.
I looked in all the places that I thought would be accessible to her, and
could not find her. Cinder is black, and hides well in dark places. I looked
all over. I could not imagine where she could be and started to worry that
she had somehow literally jumped ship.
I called her, and she didn't answer, which she usually does. Then, I really
began to worry.
I went to get a travel crate, which we had left open, and there was Cinder,
sound asleep in Rosie's crate. She had blended in so well because the crate
was black, too. I had only glanced at the crates earlier because I was sure
that she would not go in voluntarily so soon after a long car ride. But, I
guess she thought Rosie's crate would be better than hers.
She gave me such a look when I disturbed her nap! Then, she curled up and
went right back to sleep.
This morning, the weather was blustery and we knew we'd be in for a rocky
ride, so we were cat chauffeurs again and drove the car home. They had
looks of amazement when we took them inside and let them out in their own
house.
As for us, we drove back to the marina and came home by boat without the
cats. When we arrived, they were napping.
Fortunately, we had some friends who had also come out by boat, but didn't
want to take their smaller boat across the bay. Instead, they drove our car
home, saving us another round-trip.

Annie, it sounds like you're getting them ready, and I have no
doubt that they'll do great! OOooo but I'd sure be worried too.
Then again, I'd hate to leave them behind. See?

Hi Cheryl,
Yes, you've got it.
I seem to worry about them, no matter where they are and no matter what
they or we are doing.
Thank goodness they seem to be very tolerant of my ideas, except that Cinder
absolutely forbids me to clip her claws. If she would only catch on that if
she'd let me do it, she would be saved a trip to the vet, where,
incidentally, she tolerates it very well.
