Urgh! Cat Frustration.....
A few months ago the cats discovered that our shower leaks and the wood trim
by the tub is rotting. What fun it is to shred the wood AND the drywall. What started as a finger hole is now progressing to be about 6 inches tall into the drywall. They can just about crawl into the space. I've stuffed paper, rags and t-shirts into the hole, but they just dig out whatever's in there and proceed to dig further. Oh what fun it is to play with the drywall pieces they dig out! brb, have to snap fingers again, I hear them in the tub........ Okay, hissing is ensuing over this d*mn hole. All three want in and they're literally tearing my wall apart. I've lost my house to cats...............sigh. kili -------totally owned by Chloe, Tyrone and Pua. |

"kilikini" Oh what fun it is to play with the drywall pieces they dig out! sounds like they are trying to break through to the world beyond the wall they can smell it (they probably smell dirt from crawl space..) --- you need a contractor like me to do a basic home repair. kili -------totally owned by Chloe, Tyrone and Pua. |

I know this was probably posted out of a combination of frustration and amusement (at cat antics), but I do have a couple of concerns. First, the cats could crawl into the walls (as you suggested). Worse, they could become trapped there -- or you could face a *huge* bill trying to extricate them. Second, that description is a perfect location for the formation of mold. That would be a health risk for both you and the kitties. That rotted area really does need to be replaced, and not just for cosmetic reasons. MaryL |

MaryL Luckily I am married to a carpenter, but have you ever been with a person who's last thought in the world is repairing something on his day off? We even got FREE trim! He builds houses all week and has grandiose ideas on what to do at home, yet he does nothing but sit on the computer all weekend. I have no idea how to fix it and we don't have the money to have someone else fix it. We have the supplies right here! Ladies, you know of what I speak........ Marry a plumber and when your pipes go bad, you have to call one. It's the way it goes. kili |
