Default Adopt an Aby!

Just received this note:

My husband is leaving me suddenly. I am losing everything resulting in my
having to place almost all of my animals. I have an Aby-Tabby named Mr.
Crisp. He has minor physical scaring from burns he sustained in his
previous home. He came to me at the Humane Society of Southern Arizona
where I used to work. He is neutered and microchiped. He is not declawed
and has lived indoors only. He is a very affectionate cat and I am
devastated at losing him and all of my other animals, but I have no choice.
Please if you can help me, contacts are listed below.

That is extremely sad. It's hard enough to be dumped by a spouse, but to
lose your animals - who would probably be very comforting during such a
difficult time - is just terrible. It sounds like this husband is a real
jackass who's just pulling the rug out from under her and leaving her very
few resources or options. It's really a shame she couldn't find someone
(or a few people) to take her pets temporarily, until she had a situation
where she could take them back.

I hope she finds good homes for them!

Joyce

What Joyce said.
I just feel so badly for this woman. I hope she is able to get some
kind of temporary financial aid. Those
are the people who *really* need it--the ones who just need help
getting out of a temporary hole.
Some humane societies will shelter pets for women like her for free.
But I imagine she is so overwhelmed
she can't see the end of the tunnel right now

That sucks man. Does she have a LOT of animals? Seriously, do you
have any idea what her options might be for the future? Would she be
able to provide for them any time soon if they went to foster homes?
Best Friends does that thing where they contact local members when
someone of them has an animal-related need. How about Aby-specific
groups? You're good to be helping her...she must be going nuts about
now.

According to the veterinarian web site where she works (located by Googling
her work number), she has 11 cats and 4 dogs, at least 2 of them great dane
or great dane mixes. And I thought I was bad with 12 cats and one geriatric
dog, a terriorist at that.

DH would love to have an Aby, but we are too far a way, and shipping the
critter would be a bit traumatic for him.

I'm so sorry to hear about Kate and her animals.
Lots of purrs and best wishes,
