Default cats set off our house alarm

We have an alarm system with glass break sensors. Peter and I had just gone
upstairs to bed and the alarm went off. We think Sam was chaseing Cinnamon
and she jumped on the back of a chair in the living room and then onto the
half wall. I have picutes on it and when we came downstairs to see why the
alarm went off 2 pictures were on the floor.

We had to call the alarm company to report a false alarm. All the cats had
big eyes after all the noise. We have an outside speaker for the alarm.

Reminds me of a time my parents were having Robbie looked after by a
neighbour when they lived in DC. They had gone away for a few days and
on the last day the neighbour lost my parents key. So after panicing,
she called her son in the fire-service, explaining that they needed to
rescue Robbie.

A fire-truck (with neighbours son on board) and 4 firefighters, turned
up and broke in, to rescue Robbie.... It set off the house alarm. What
my parents hadn't told the neighbour, was although the house alarm
could be switched off in the house, if the the alarm went off, it was
automatically notified by the alarm company to the local police and
the Embassy. If the Embassy didn't get a call from my dad verifying
he'd switched off the alarm, the Embassy protocol was to notify the
State department....who followed *their* protocol, which was to send
the secret service to the address to deal with a potential "diplomatic
situation".

My parents came home, to find a firetruck, 4 policeman, 2 police cars
and 4 secret service guys all outside and around the house. Robbie was
asleep on their bed!

As an alarm installer of over twenty years I find this story very
entertaining!

lol -- leave it to cats to manage to do something like that. Did you
tell the alarm company it was the cats' fault?

Who ever said keeping cats was for wimps.

You aren't helping the 'real men prefer dogs' set one bit.

I told the alarm company a picture fell. Not that the cats knocked it down.

Default cats set off our house alarm

When we first purchased our house we had plumbers here working on the
kitchen and putting in the pipes for a half bath. We were not living here
yet but, had the alarm system in. We had the plumbers choose a code they
could remember and I think they had a key to the house.

They showed up to work one day and had problems with turning off the alarm.
Every time the dropped or banged something the alarm went off. Finally they
stopped for lunch. They were sitting at the table in front of the kitchen
windows. They put the shade up and there were 2 cops out there. They had to
explain the whole story to them and I think we were called to be sure the
men had permission to be in our house.

Good think the plumbers had a sence of humor.
