Checking in (Ike)
We returned home today. Traffic flowed smoothly and Cinder and Rosie
were fine. Corpus Christi got lucky. High tides, but no floods, no real wind, not much rain. Weather in San Antonio was great. Evacuees kept arriving, first ahead of the hurricane, and now after because the area hit does not have electricity. The motels filled up, and some people had to go to the shelters. The problem now is that people can't return because there is no electricity and, we heard, no gasoline in the areas hit. Also, gasoline prices jumped overnight. I think the hardest thing now is that people can't get back to see what damage may have been done and what they can salvage. We'll see how long it takes to turn the power on and clean up the debris. These people need whatever purrs, prayers, good vibrations we can offer. If our house was finished, I would have invited somebody to stay with us. Jim has an appointment with the doctor on Wednesday to see how he is doing. Annie |

Aren't you glad you don't still live in Galveston? Any idea of the condition of your old house there? Purrs continue for Jim for tomorrow. Cheryl |
