Default A tribute to Harmony

*an orange-and-white stripey boy, and a grey/brown-and-white stripey boy,

Hi, everybody. Our names are Captain and Stanley. Our Meowmy and Paw
brought us home from the animal shelter last January. That's when we found
out about the Big Sister we never met.

Her name was Harmony, and she went to the Bridge in November 2004 when she
was 14 years old. Meowmy has lots of black-cat decorations in the house,
because Harmony (and her sister Melody, who went to the Bridge in 2000)
was a black cat.

We never met Harmony, but we have a lot to thank her for 'cause she helped
teach Meowmy and Paw about how to be good kitty parents. She trained them
real well on how to spoil kitties and where to skritch and important stuff
like that. And when she had to leave for the Bridge, from up there she
kept an eye out for Meowmy and Paw, so when the right kitties who needed
homes were ready, they would be ready.

One day, a week after we were brought in to the shelter, we both had the
same dream. We saw a black kitty who told us, "Today is the day you meet
your new humans. So groom your whiskers and ears, and wash your paws, and
get your purr motor revved up. You'll know them when you see them". We
weren't sure what it all meant, but we got ourselves ready and waited.

That was the day that Meowmy and Paw decided that they NEEDED to honor the
memory of Harmony, and of Melody and Misty who went before them, by giving
a OneTrueHome to two kitties who needed one. So they went to the shelter
and met lots of kitties, including us.

Meowmy said that she loved ALL the kitties and wished she could give them
all a OneTrueHome. But even though all the kitties purred and were
friendly, it was the two of us who responded the most to Meowmy and Paw
when they came in. Captain purred loudly enough to rattle the windows.
Stanley's purr is more quiet, you have to cuddle him to feel it. But when
Meowmy put him back down after doting on him, he looked at her with a
"Hey! I wasn't finished getting fussed over!" expression.

We think Harmony whispered in Meowmy's and Paw's ear, "Those are the cats
for you", the same way she told us to be ready because our new humans were
coming. Because Meowmy and Paw adopted us and we've been as doted on as
can be ever since.

But we know how Meowmy and Paw miss Harmony. Meowmy used to love to
stretch out on the sofa with Harmony right next to her. And she loved to
listen to Harmony's special chirpy purr. Paw set up a bird feeder right
where Harmony could watch it through the front window, on Kitty TV. He
even put little bits of bread right on the outside windowsill, so the
birdies would come right up and eat it where Harmony could see them. She
loved that!

We know how much Harmony meant to our Meowmy and Paw. She gave them
unconditional love for all those years, and she trained her humans on how
to spoil kitties properly. We're benefitting from all her years of hard
work. So until we meet her face to face at the Bridge and can thank her
properly, we want to pay tribute to her at the Jellicle Ball.

Thanks.
