We have 5 litter boxes for our 4 cats. Being retired I am usually home so I scoop whenever one of my 5 uses the litter boxes. I am usually waiting for them to finish so I can scoop it and I think they realize that because when I am here they usually do not bother burying it!! |

I have an extra box, so when I do need to change it, I switch boxes, wash the one I'm replacing and let it air until the next time I switch. Of course, it could depend on how many cats one has. I have two. Joy |

Of course, it could depend on how many cats one has. *I have two. Joy I remember reading that the standard rule is: One box for every cat, plus one. This isn't always true. I have four cats, and had five boxes. One of the boxes, no one ever used, so I took it up. There's another box now that no one ever uses. So I'm thinking of taking *it* away, which will make us three boxes for four cats. But my fear is that as soon as I remove it, *someone* will go "I was going to use that box." And pee in the floor where it used to be. Sherry |

Morning and night. We're using Feline Pine exclusively now. We only throw
away the poo, the dust goes in the compost bin. Very efficient and very good for the soil. Incidentally, I found a much cheaper way to use pine pellets. Feline Pine and Feline Fresh are very similar and both cost about $8 for a 20-lb. bag. We learned that feed stores sell a product called Equine Fresh which is (as far as I can tell) identical to Feline Pine, except it only costs around $6.50 for a 40-lb. bag. Feline Pine doesn't even come in 40-lb. bags. |

It all breaks down really quickly. I change the litter every two or three days, depending on the weather and how much it's been used for weeing in. Jeanette |
