OT - Letter to the US President
"Dear Mr. President , I heard you say you will not guarantee SS checks
if the debt ceiling isn't raised. Why is it the scare always has to do with SS, Medicare, & our Soldiers pay? Why not stop your own pay or all of Congress to save much more money for our country? Why use the Seniors, Soldiers, & our Needy as examples? Take the money from those who take no risks and reap the benefits? Repost if you agree!" -- Hugs, CatNipped See all our masters at: http://www.PossiblePlaces.com/CatNipped See the RPCA FAQ site, created by "Yowie", maintained by Mark Edwards, at: http://www.professional-geek.net/rpcablog/ Email: L(dot)T(dot)Crews(at)comcast(dot)net |

Why use the Seniors, Soldiers, & our Needy as examples? I will agree that anyone voting against the debt ceiling raise should have their pay stopped. However, stopping the pay of the entire Congress and all high-level administrators would not alleviate the problem, so your criticism is misdirected. The president is merely trying to bring home to Republicans (and voters) that failing to raise the debt ceiling will have consequences. Failure to raise the debt ceiling would not only endanger the lives of the populace, it would endanger the US and world economy, and would destroy the "full faith and credit" of the United States. Obama's brinksmanship ploy probably won't work, because the Republicans don't care about the welfare of the people nearly as much as they care about thwarting that [racial epithet deleted] in the White House. Historically, over the last fifty years, Republican administrations have always raised the debt ceiling far more than Democratic administrations, and Rebublican-majority congresses have had no problem with that. The very Republicans who find they can't, in conscience, allow the debt ceiling to be raised under Obama, all voted for such a raise several times under Bush the Younger. -- Wayne M. |

But when you make a politically centered post in *any* ng...don't make stuff up just to "make a point" or politically savvy regs of both parties (and in this thread, a third as well) will land on you with all four feet as they may very well not be just "venting" like I think you are.....but have all their ducks in a row fact-wise, especially re who does what with how much in D.C., USA. There are more upcoming dire happenings to SS income/partB deductions this approaching Dec. but I am not going into them here. You got hypotension? I suggest SS.gov and the Medicare website which will, upon detailed scrutiny, raise your bp considerably. Some friends here and I are constructing a "letter" to the NFL Powers that Be about the lockdown. That....we are well informed about, unlike polical sneaky doings. |

Some friends here and I are constructing a "letter" to the NFL Powers that Be about the lockdown. That....we are well informed about, unlike polical sneaky doings. I certainly don't want to start any more hard feelings here, nor flame wars - I'm not up to it either physically or mentally. Just please google "Dear Mr. President George W. Bush" and see how many hits you get. They may not have the exact same verbiage - in most cases they weren't *nearly* as polite (and, BTW, I agreed with those too - I have no fondness for *any* professional politician of whatever party). As far as "facts" - this isn't about facts, it's about feelings, as in how I (an a lot of Americans) are fed up with *everyone* in D.C. and their illogical, ill conceived notions of what's good for our country - *spitting in the face of their constituents*. With that said - I am very, very sorry I started this thread. I am not the author of this letter, it was copied from FB (another good reason for me to stay away from that site). It was a simple plea for politicians to quit threatening SS, Medicare, Welfare and all the other programs that help our poor while *TRILLIONS* of tax dollars are spent on war and *NONSENSE* research programs that could be cut without affecting those who have nothing to begin with. I'm tired of such scare tactics because I'm tired of living in fear. You see, I'm not a rich republican - I am a "surviving on the edge" democrat/libertarian. A cut in SSDI, or Medicare, and I lose my home and my (future) medical benefits (and right now if I lost my home I'd lose the lives of the four beings who depend on me and are the only ones who keep me wanting to live... and if I lost my medical benefits I would soon lose my *life*). I certainly did *NOT* post it to provoke nastiness. I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, Hopitus, you're right... Well, the money has to come from somewhere, and it's a lot easier to take it from people who are relatively powerless, have no clout, and can't hurt them back. Once elected, our Congressmen are guaranteed medical care for life, and I was shocked to hear on the news that the sleazebag who had to resign after he posted nude photos on the Internet will still get OVER A MILLION DOLLARS in government pension! |

To give it a name, it is "When your budget gets cut, make it hurt the public." Politically, just biting the bullet and cutting in areas other than the ones he did would have much less bite. I'm not being partisan. Everyone does it that way. -- Will in New Haven |
