Kate and Jack Update

Well, it is always insane for me to get up at 7 am, since I'm a night
owl. But these places always insist the kitties have to be in by 8 or
8:30 or thereabouts. So I dragged myself out of bed and pretty much
felt like a zombie.

Luckily, a dear friend of mine, Dave, was willing to go through this
adventure with me. He scooped up the kittens and me at 8:00 am and we
made it to the clinic shortly before they opened the doors. Paperwork
was done, Kate and Jack were taken in, and Dave and I went to his
place to await the results.

I checked about 12:30, and they were just coming out of the
anesthesia. They did fine, they told me. Whew -- relief.

After picking up his kids from school, Dave drove me back to the vet
and we picked them up and brought them home. I thanked Dave and he
took off, leaving me to figure out how in the world I was going to
keep these two separate for a few nights!

I borrowed Brando's carrier. It's a medium dog-sized carrier, and he
eats in it because otherwise, he would steal all the other cats' food,
being a former feral and not big on cat food etiquette. I cleaned it
out, got it ready, and took it upstairs to the Kitty Rescue Room,
followed by Jack and Kate in their respective carriers.

They were, of course, wobbly. I did opt for the pain meds, and I was
glad I did. I could tell they weren't hurting too badly.

I managed to get Jack into the carrier, though he was *not* a happy
camper about that. Kate is smarter, so I figured she could have the
run of the room.

I slowly gave them water, which they mostly ignored. Later, I gave
them a bit of food, and with a stroke of inspiration, put a little
water in Jack's, which he ate/drank. Kate's appetite was not there
yet :-( But at least no vomiting -- yeah!

I put Jack back into the carrier for the night.

Today, Jack acts like nothing has happened and is, of course, doing
all the things she shouldn't do (climbing, jumping -- arrrghhh!). But
I can't stop him. Kate is doing some of it, too, but not as much.
She is almost acting normal, too, except for still being off food a
bit.

So I guess at this point they are fine. I will worry for the next
several days, of course, check her belly, check his rear, and hope
that they heal perfectly well and can very soon be completely, fully
integrated into the household!

still tired today from yesterday

I'm so glad to hear they are going to be ok. Soncek also started acting
normal 12 hours after I took him to TED, so try not to worry about Jack.
Kate will be ok too.
