Neither one is as healthy as Wellness, Innova, or Nutro.

Actually, I think he's probably right, although I'm not knowledgeable
enough about the nutrient levels to do a comparison. Wellness is human-
grade meat, and I'm not familiar with Innova. Nutro used to be right
there on the top but they've changed their formula a few years ago and
I hear it isn't as good as it used to be.
I've often wondered if the Whiskas sold in the U.K. is different from
the line of cat food available here. Here, Whiskas is considered a
cheap, lower-quality "grocery-store" brand. From what I've read, it's
far more well-respected in the U.K. I wonder if it's a different
formula.

Ever read about the "food grade plaster" they put in Twinkies?
I would imagine the researchers don't swallow it though if they have
to taste a lot of it.

Plaster? That sounds like it could be a bit of a "set up" :-\

Sounds like it might be close to what kids use to use for gluing paper
together which is a little flour and water to make a type of paste.

No, it's one of those minerals (trona) that companies don't like to
talk about.
Trona is mined deep under the earth in Wyoming.
It's the raw ingredient for baking soda, and also called calcium
sulfate after
it's been processed.
It has been described as "food grade plaster of paris".

Or how about "ferrous sulfate"?
Another iron mineral used for enriched flour, vitamin pills...
disinfectants and weed killers.

We could try and discuss the other 39 barely pronouceable ingredients
in a Twinkie, but suffice it to say; it's not the cake anyones mother
ever
made.
People weren't meant to consume large amounts of polysorbate 60,
diacetyl...both of which is partly derived from...

take a guess...

come on now, really try...

ok, give up?...

petroluem oil...that black stuff from the middle east.

Gotta feed the masses somehow.
Who said Soylent Green was all that bad?

I still remember waiting to walk in to see that movie. And the looks on the
peoples faces coming out that had just seen it.

"Soylent Green is people!" Poor Chuck Heston, so much of his career
was destined to end up in satire form on "The Simpsons."

No it is dry food that I am asking about. Indy has never had canned food. He
is about 10 years old. He spends half of the time and eats plenty if mice,
insects and grass. Historically I haven't rationed his food. He always has
food in his bowl and he weight has been reasonable. I looked at the charts
but don't know what to make of them. Whiskas is not on the dry list.

Here is a great chart with the actual AS FED nutritional information on

most
major catfoods. I think you can figure out what you need to do. (I am

hoping
this is Whiskas canned, not dry? though there is a dry page also. It is

good
to keep your cat on a food that is under 10% carbs if at all possible).

My Indy ate Friskies cat food for most of his life. I believe that it

is
the best out there but have no facts. On day we ran out of his regular

food
and not wanting to go the distance to the regular store I went to the

quick
store and chose Whiskas.

He likes to eat it and won't eat his usual food any more. He has put on

some
weight with this new food which he does not need.

I am wondering if the Whiskas is as healthy for him as Friskies is.

Thanks for your input.

It's a useful list, but I would like to see the ash contents, too. The
more ash, the more acidic the food, and the greater the risk of kidney
complications. I've read that the ash content should be 2% or lower, and
most supermarket canned catfoods are over that.

My niece had white poo when she was a baby, but that's because her
liver
wasn't working very well. It turned brown after she got a new liver.
Imagine having to examine your poo all the time to make sure your new
liver is still working right.

Smokey eats Whiskas dry and won't touch anything else. But she is VERY picky
about her dry food (prefers meat), she doesn't even like it when we open a
new bag. We did get her to eat Whiskas weight maintenace formula though.
It's working too, she's as fat as ever.

The vet calls Whiskas McDonald's food.

Boots loves Whiskas, too. It must taste really good to a cat. She is
so picky. She only eats Pro Plan dry, but it's not available locally.
Invariably, sometimes I run out before I get to make a trip to the
city. When I do, she gets Whiskas in the interim. It's the only other
cat food she will touch.

I doubt if it is different but just better marketed. It's a popular brand
that is easily available in supermarkets.
I feed my cat Kim on Natures Menu . It is a wet food sold in sachets.
