Default Feeling chuffed

I am improving in fitness.

It's such a lovely day today and I haven't been out on the bike since Saturday
as I've been a bit sniffy, so I got Gino out of the garage and set off. Toured
the Norfolk lanes for a good 35 miles and at the end did the hill between
Bradenham & home. On this hill, in this particular direction, I always have to
go into my granny ring for part of the climb.

But not today!!

Did it for the first time in this direction without having to go into my granny
ring.

I am feeling chuffed with myself :-)

And at the end of the ride a certain one-eyed black-furred lady cat was sitting
outside waiting for me. When I got off the bike she strolled over, meowed a
greeting & stood up on her back legs to rub her head on my hands in greeting.
She followed me as I put my bike away, and then into the house. As soon as I
sat down, she jumped on my knee and proceeded to walk up my bosums to give me
lots of headrubs :-)

What a lovely day it is!

Cheers, helen s

Congrats on the improving fitness.

I'm guessing, but a granny ring on a bike is probably the lowest gear.
If it were a truck the lowest gear would be grandma in the States

Gino my Bianchi San Remo. I ride Gino as often as I can. It's the only chance
I'll get of riding a perfectly formed Italian ;-)

Congrats on the improving fitness.

Thank you!

LOL! The infamous granny ring which is the much loved friend of the unfit
cyclist :-)

See a pic of one at
http://www.btinternet.com/~merciancy.../triple_chains
et.jpg

The big ring on the outside is the one you have the chain going round when you
want to push a big gear and go *fast* When you are going uphill, having the
chain going round the smaller of the two chainwheels inside that outer one is
what helps you push a low gear - aiding climbing. It's that smallest chainwheel
of a triple is the "granny ring" - beloved of the unfit and grannies on bikes
:-)

It's the smallest chainring of a triple chainset which is where the cranks to
the pedals are attached.

The lowest gear of a bike will be the smallest chainwheel at the front and the
biggest cog on the back cassette.

I am known to use this gear ;-)

I didn't know that about the gears, but it makes sense. I realize there
are bikes with gears, but I always forget.

What I want to know is, what is "chuffed"? Is that like "buff"?

I'm picturing Helen with slender hips and pert bosoms, with luxuriant
tresses falling stylistically over her shoulders.
