Default $#*!@%!!! unemployed AGAIN!!!

What the hell am I, chopped liver?! If I were, at least I'd have a
future as cat food.

Roswell park let me and the other temp go--this on the heels of our
immediate boss having said they were hiring one other person in there
for an open position of data entry clerk. Of course I'd jumped on this
right off, sent Boss my resume, and said nothing until after she had
dropped the bomb. When I asked if it were too premature to inquire of
the status of my application, she apologized and said she could not
justify hiring a new clerk presently; further, that she did want to
call me back when things picked up. This may also only be so because
it is frankly a pain in the tuchas to train a person on their very
complex system when I or the other girl can just jump on it. But the
other girl is pregnant and who knows if she can be available down the
road?

Now in fairness to Boss, the economic unpleasantness has been unkind
to the hospital. No longer a state facility, it depends on charitable
gifts to keep the research and treatments going. A more recent mail
campaign was wounded sorely when it came to light that some poor
schmuck at the hospital had bought and paid for a colossal mailing
list consisting of...the dearly departed. Not recently departed
either. Their stay in the Happy Place Where Cancer Doesn't Exist has
been going on between five and seven years now. This was just a PR
nightmare. Fewer of the living recipients responded to this campaign
than had been projected. So, no more work available.

I don't even know if I can go back on unemployment benefits, as this
was a contract job. The claim in New York is three years in duration,
but who the hell knows what the rules are in this instance?

I have already had an agency tell me they don't want me unless I do
call-center work, that miasma of evil that came close to ruining both
my sanity and my marriage. Louie and several friends think I should be
up front and tell these people that my medical professional does not
believe that such an environment is good for my health. Yeah, good
luck with that--who'll believe it?

Boy, do I need job purrs now! What a crappy time to get sacked.

Blessed be,
Baha

Well, I certainly know how you feel: I was laid off in July, and I don't
have any prospects, so far.

Times are tough everywhere; I'm just glad I don't live in Detroit

While the lying politicians (is that an oxymoron?) try to convince us
the economy is getting 'better', I continue to hear of the large numbers
of people, just like you and me, being laid off.

Purrs for you to find the kind of job you need too. This totally sucks :/

Sending 're employment' purrs.

Job purrs on the way. I'd certainly check on the unemployment. (I'd also
see if your doctor can write a letter stating call center work is out of the
question.)

Thanks...Louie said the same thing about getting docs from the doc.
Essentially the doctor's issue about this species of work is in the
school of thought as that esteemed organization, AA. Any anonymous
member of that group will tell you that part of the recovery process
is distancing yourself from places and situations associated with, and
leading to, destructive and addictive behavior. My marriage almost
went into the toilet when I was at the bank ingratiating myself, and
it landed me in the hospital with a heart attack scare. Doc does not
want a repeat performance any more than I. And no one wants to believe
me when I say it.

I did get a call from the people who placed me at Roswell and they
sent my resume to a sportswear company that has a contract with the
Sabres and Bills. Unlike many other places locally, this company's
actually growing. Purrs for Baseball Cap Local 72, anyone?

Blessed be,
Baha

I was watching a newscast yesterday where the 'experts' were
complaining that people were not going out and spending their money
so business was down. Right so far. But they they complained that
people were 'saving' their money instead. Hello. Groceries and
house payments are now considered saving? The government and the
media really don't get it.

No, they do not get it, but how long has it been since anyone was in
office who COULD get it? My mother was one of those old-school Truman
democrats who still believed--poor benighted thing--that anyone could
grow up to become president. Bull cookies. The best a poor schmuck
like me can do is stuff envelopes, frankly, because it's now a rich
man's game in a plutocracy. The more I think about stuff like this the
more to heart I take the Baha'i teachings about fairer distribution of
wealth being a step toward human spiritual progress.

I have just been told that some $!@*% baseball cap company downtown
rejected my resume because I don't have a degree. A stinking degree to
be a file clerk! Excuse me while I go buy a medical license so I can
pump gas, please!

I'm so sorry to hear about this. How cruel to be laid off when you
were holding hopes for moving to the data entry job!
