Party "Pizzas"

The original recipe called for bleu cheese but I found it to be a bit
overwhelming. Try it that way if you wish

1 lb. ground beef
1 lb. mild bulk Italian sausage
1 lb. shredded cheddar
1 tsp. dried basil
1 tsp. dried oregano
1/4 tsp. garlic powder
2 Tbs. parsley flakes
1-1/2 to 2 loaves 'party' rye bread slices

Brown beef & sausage together; drain well. Add cheese and seasonings and
stir until cheese is melted. Spoon mixture by teaspoons on the small slices
of rye bread on a couple of freezer safe/oven safe plates or baking sheets.
FREEZE. When it's time to serve, pop them under the broiler for 5-7
minutes.

That sounds yummy. How long will they keep in the freezer? I think
they would make a great after school snack.

Oooooooooh....

Except for that I don't like rye bread, sounds delish.

I wonder if french bread or "texas toast" will do???

The bread you use needs to be small and thin - Texas toast is far too thick.
You might be able to find some other thinly sliced "party" bread. Ask at
the bakery in the grocery store.

Once frozen solid, package them up in small freezer bags, portion sized. I
don't know how much you'd consider a portion - 3? 4? 6? At any rate,
they'll keep for months

The recipe is courtesy of a former co-worker, Vicki Cloutier, who moved to
Houma, Louisiana a few years back. Hope she and her family are okay.

Jill
