That's so cute. Why can't we take our cats to cafes here in the US? Not that
mine would care to go, but...

Health inspections?

In France you can take your dog with you to restaurants, and some of the
restaurants will even provide food and water for your dog! I'm not sure if
the same applies to cats. I would take my cat to a restaurant, but I think
she would just cower near me the whole time. She's sort of afraid of people
(though she's not a fearful cat). If the restaurant were fairly empty,
though, she'd probably wander around a bit (while leashed, of course!).

I saw dogs galore - in public places - while on vacation in France, but not
cats. Yet, in Peter Gethers' books, he talks of Norton being welcomed into
French restaurants all of the time, & being catered to as a special sort of
guest. So... I don't know if they were being extra-nice & bending the rules
for Norton (& Peter), or if people just don't tend to bring their cats with
them when going to public places.

I would take my cat to a restaurant, but I think

I think some cats would cower & desperately wish they'd been left at home,
while others would be - provided they were permitted - all *over* the place.
