[OT] Slang Help Wanted
What does "Gilroy" mean?
I was reading an interview with actress Claudia Black (Aeryn Sun of "Farscape"), during which she commented about Aeryn's hair - "It was the most Gilroy that Aeryn looked, really, in season four." IIRC Ms Black is Australian, but I think her parents might be from the UK so I'm not sure where this bit of slang comes from. Jeanne Hedge, as directed by Natasha ============ http://www.jhedge.com |

The only Gilroy I know is a town in California where they have a Garlic
Festival every year. -- Joy Things turn out best for the people who make the best out of the way things turn out. -- John Wooden "Jeanne Hedge" wrote in message ... What does "Gilroy" mean? I'd hazard a guess that "looks like Gilroy" means "looks pretty bad", and comes from a reference to a famous Scottish boxer, Bert Gilroy. To say "looked like Gilroy" means you looked like you'd just been 10 rounds in the boxing ring. http://www.bertgilroy.com/55-1947-2.pdf Yowie |

Aeryn's hair was *awful* in season 4. I guess "Gilroy" isn't common Australian slang then. Jeanne Hedge, as directed by Natasha ============ http://www.jhedge.com |
