Default [OT] Slang Help Wanted

What does "Gilroy" mean?

I was reading an interview with actress Claudia Black (Aeryn Sun of
"Farscape"), during which she commented about Aeryn's hair - "It was
the most Gilroy that Aeryn looked, really, in season four."

IIRC Ms Black is Australian, but I think her parents might be from the
UK so I'm not sure where this bit of slang comes from.

The only Gilroy I know is a town in California where they have a Garlic
Festival every year.

There are a bunch of farms in that area that grow garlic. You can smell
the garlic in the air when you drive through Gilroy, even from the freeway!

I'd hazard a guess that "looks like Gilroy" means "looks pretty bad", and
comes from a reference to a famous Scottish boxer, Bert Gilroy. To say
"looked like Gilroy" means you looked like you'd just been 10 rounds in the
boxing ring.

Well, whether or not your guess is right, the context certainly is.
Aeryn's hair was *awful* in season 4.

I guess "Gilroy" isn't common Australian slang then.
