Scented Cat Litter?

I don't really understand it. I don't have an overly sensitive nose but
any time I bought (not on purpose!) scented cat litter it made me
flinch. Cats noses are much more sensitive than mine. Who at the
litter factory thought adding perfume is a good idea?

It's like stepping into an elevator with someone who just couldn't
resist using *all* the scented bath products that came in that holiday
gift set. LOL

It's funny to think [people think] cats like perfumed cat litter. I
can't see why they would. I felt horrible the one time I bought Arm &
Hammer litter for Persia. I guess I wasn't paying attention; I figured
baking soda, okay. I didn't realize they had also dumped a bottle of
flowery perfume in it. Yikes!

I see ads on TV for scented cat litter and have to wonder why. Is it
for people who can't be bothered cleaning the litterbox?

What say you? Yay or nay to scented cat litter?

Definitely not! I can imagine it causing some cats avoiding the litter box
altogether.

That's the way I feel about it. It seems to me people who use scented
litter don't bother to keep the litterbox(es) clean. Cats don't like
dirty litterboxes, either.

I didn't know a thing about cats when Persia came to live with me. But
I did know enough to keep her box scooped. There was never a need to
cover it up with scented stuff.

When it came to strangers Persia was pretty much a hidey-cat. The only
reason people knew I had a cat because of the toy mousies scattered
around the living room. It was certainly not due to any sort of
stench emanating from the litterbox.

I think clumping is far superior, both because it is easier to use, and
because the urine-soaked litter doesn't stay in the litter box when you
clean it. I think it's more sanitary and less messy.

I always bought the clumping type litter for Persia. Of course at first

I used litter pan liners, too.

Older cats do not like changes and you can tell real fast if your cat
does not like the scented litter when they start doing their business
outside the litter box. The only success I had with scented litter was
with a kitten and then I was stuck buying that brand the rest of the
cats life. Unscented is the only way to have a happy cat.

Yep. Boyfie won't even use his litter box, which is in the bathroom, full of
soil and leaves, He ignores it. He poos in the bath, because he doesn't
want to go out in the cold.
I've told him this is a very serious thing and if he does it again he's off
to the cats home.
