When Tiger purrs there is no sound. If he is on my lap and I am
stroking his throat (which he loves) I can feel the throb. Also, when
he purrs he breathes at double his normal rate so I can see it. Other
than that there is no indication. Strange!

Miranda has a silent purr mostly, but sometimes she can bring it up a
notch so that I cana ctually hear it. Mostly I just know from her
breathing that she is purring. As you say, it is quicker.

Caliban, OTOH, can purr loud enough for the both of them.

She had minced raw pork tonight and purred. Thank Bast, with
encouragement she ate it all.

Raw pork? Not good for cats or any other animal. Too much risk of parasites.
Unwholesome.

True if you are in the US (possibly). Not the same problem in Great
Brittan. Trichinosis is a Western Hemisphere problem.

Not to mention we are dealing with a cat that is very difficult to
feed. Anything that will tempt her appetite will possibly give her a
little more time in the sun.

EACH OF THE CATS HAS A DIFFERENT VOLUME LEVEL AND A DIFFERENT SPEED AND
TOME... ODDLY MY LOUDEST PURRER IS tRUDI WHO WEIGHS AROUND 7 POUNDS, AND OF
COURSE THERE IS TIGER WHO PURRS, MEOWS AND EATS AT THE SAME TIME... SORT OF
SOUNDS LIKE HE IS MEOWING INTO A FAN WHILE IT IS RUNNING, CAT PURRS ARE THE
MOST RELAXING OF SOUNDS AND SENSATIONS, lEE

I give Tiger six pieces of Friskies Dental Diet at bedtime. He likes
this so much that he gets all excited, shakes his tail and meows. His
meow then has a trill which tells me he is purring at the same time.

I've never heard a meow-purr before. I didn't think that was
possible!
