Of course Laku's older than the kitten - Nico - but nowhere near the distinguished ages reached by Frank and Nikki. Compared to them, he's just a kid with his 4,5 years. When Nico gets to that age, will you call him Nico-teen? I echo Elise's *groan*, as we don't smoke either one of us and I really don't like the smell of cigarrettes, cigars etc. Some pipe tobaccoes are acceptable, but even them not at length. -- Christine in Vantaa, Finland christal63 (at) yahoo (dot) com photos: http://photos.yahoo.com/christal63 |

Yes! Laku's no longer the only cat in this household. We brought a little grey ball of fur home today. He's a rescue kitten. An elderly relative of this woman had to go into a nursing home and couldn't take her female cat with a litter of kittens with her so the young woman took them in order to find homes for them. We had been looking for a kitty friend for Laku for some time now and he's it. The kitten is 15 wks old, is mostly grey, except for the toes on the left side paws, and a "bikini" - white marks on the tummy and up on the ribcage between the front paws. Laku isn't quite sure what to think of the newcomer. He's been slinking around crouched low, avoiding the kitten. And the kitten has checked out our apartment, been shown where the litter box and food cups are and is now sleeping on the sofa. Well, at least they're not fighting. http://tinyurl.com/6qm3d Now we have to come up with a name for the little one... Awww, he's adorable! Congratulations! ------ Krista |

Good point, that's exactly how I was hearing it in my mind (stress on 2nd syllable). OK, LA-krit-sa, LA-krit-sa.... Oh, little LA-krit-sa, come here, my pretty boy...! Or you could pronounce more like German, where (iirc) the stress is on the second syllable. http://www2.dict.cc/?s=Lakritze (The guy says "licorice, feminine" in the sound clip) -- monique, caretaker of Oscar |

Yuk, cigarettes! I've gotten even less tolerant since living in the Boulder area, where smoking is banned in all public facilities, including bars and concerts (yay!). I was skiing yesterday at A-Basin, where the resort starts at about 11Kft and the top is about 13Kft. It's hard to get enough air. I caught a whiff of those nasty cigarettes, shortened my breath a little to get away from it, and suddenly felt *very* light-headed. Gross. -- monique, caretaker of Oscar |
