Default Close sitter

Anyone remember that old Seinfeld episode about the close talker?
Well, I've discovered that Vino is a close sitter.
Whenever I lie down on the couch, or on my back in bed, he comes up
and meatloafs on my chest. But it's not really my chest, it's more
like my throat! He's right up there leaning on my collarbone, tucking
his head under my chin.
It's very cute, but a bit of a pain. His whiskers tickle me, I get
fur in my nose and eyes, I smell his kitty breath, and to be perfectly
honest, it's kind of stifling.
So I grab his rear quarterpanels and slide him back about 6 inches.
Ahhh, there you go, much better :-)
If I don't constantly pet and scritch him in this position, he will
turn around and sit with his butt in my face. That's even worse than
the close sitting...

Rusty meatloafs on my waist when I lie down on the couch.
If I lie on my side, he sits on my hip.

LOL - Bandit does the exact same thing to me. And the problem with her is
that she *BITES* me if I don't pet her *exactly* the way she wants to be
petted (or if she feels I am suddenly breathing too much of her air). So I
definitely don't want those pearly whites rightup in my face!

Stinky did this the second day he was with me. He was a hoolikitten,
dervishing all over the house like the Tasmanian devil cartoon,
upsetting poor Mimi's well-ordered household. He had practically
driven me to distraction, when I collapsed in front of the TV.
Suddenly, the skinny little mite jumped up beside me, climbed into my
lap, crept up to my chest, then curled up, purring right under my
chin. He fell asleep like that, and I just melted.

He first did that fourteen years ago this very week (yes, it's the
Stinkyversary), and he does it to this day. He's a lot bigger,
though.

Yes, he's getting more and more affectionate as he gets older. It's
very interesting to see happen. I should write a dissertation on the
subject. "The Sluttification of Vino: A Slow Erosion of Feline

Basho would be the happiest cat in the world if he could spend his day
on my chest, with his nose close enough to my nose so that he could nip
me when he felt like it.

haha, just as Jazz wouldn't let anyone near him or even touch him (except me
once in a while), my new baby Lily is a close napper. Her favorite spot is
just above or just below my right boob.
Yup, you read it right, my right boob. I can just imagine what it would be
like when she's older and weighs a little bit more grin.
