Can I ask, out of curiosity, do the women ever get Valentine things for
their boyfriends or husbands? Or is this just a one-way kind of thing?

Nancy and I have only been married 5 years so we're still kind of "new",
but she always sends me flowers (when I'm not on the road, that is) and I
always send her flowers. Yesterday I was the only one in the office to
receive flowers!

That's sweet.

Thanks for all the responses.

I'm one of those people who mostly thinks of V-day as a Hallmark holiday,
but years ago, when I was in love, I was all to happy to participate.
Now that I'm single, though, I don't miss it that much.

Everyone knows that men are creatures of habit and we have no romantic
sense an any part of our body when we are growing up. It takes a good
better half drilling into our heads for us to do it right. I do
something special every year for my better half. I try an top the year
before. It gets really hard sometimes. Tell me what you think tell if
you think I am doing good

Valentines Day breakfast
Swedish Country Style Scrambled Eggs
Swedish Sausage Potato Cakes
Cinnamon Buttermilk Waffles with fresh strawberries (
which are in season) and blue berries
Cinnamon Fritters

After a wholesome hand prepared breakfast for the both of us. I am
taking her window shopping in Mt. Dora it is a small town the
specializes in being country friendly filled with quaint little old
style shops. We will need to work that breakfast off.

We are going to have a light lunch picnic with some of our other couple
friends on the towns antique railroad that takes you out sight seeing
around a huge lake thru historic areas.

Lunch will be Asian Turkey Lettuce Wraps
Creamy cucumber salad
Bruschetta using Spanish red onions and fresh
basil on baguette bread
Rolled Chicken & Mushroom Omelette sliced up and
made into finger food
Heart shaped Cherry Jell-O cake with cool whip
topping

From there us guys are going to go and disappear and leave the other
half's together to do a scavenger hunt. We have a chauffeured vehicle
it will take them all together so they can have some fun together for a
few hours. At the end of the scavenger hunt it will lead each people
to their individual better half's special evening.

I have my lady coming to a water front restaurant in time to watch the
sunset. Where we will enjoy dinner, live music and dancing for a few
hours. The place is a casual restaurant called the inlet harbor
http://www.inletharbor.com/restaurant.html. It is a nice restaurant
that has great ambiance, scenic views of birds, boats in the marina and
there is a nearby lighthouse in sight. Plus it is inside so we won't
freeze our butts off.

When she gets home there will be single rose on her pillow, Don't worry
furballs will not be in the bedroom to eat it
Inside the rose will be something similar to this
http://tinyurl.com/93t68 . She love pink sapphires so I got a something
a little special for her

So tell me ladies has this man done good or will it blow up in my face

Matthew

That's lovely!!! I hope you have a most perfect day!!! You deserve it-
she must be a very special lady for you to go to all this trouble.

Yes she is and she deserves it everyday

That's what my DH said!!! He said people should do nice things for each
other every day, not just one day in the year out of a sense of guilt! We
didn't do much...low on $$$ this week as he got injured the week before but
we'll surprise each other later!! Last time he surprised me it was with an
eternity ring!!!

Join the gang! What I got yesterday, was what I get every year. He
wakes up, leans over and whispers in my ear "I didn't get you a
Valentine's card is that okay? You know it's just another
commercialised American idea don't you?"

As I say "Romance is dead and I live with the man who killed it!"

Can I ask, out of curiosity, do the women ever get Valentine things for
their boyfriends or husbands? Or is this just a one-way kind of thing?

I'm asking because I've heard a couple of women complain that their
husbands don't do anything for them on V-day, but I've never heard any
women say they do special stuff for their guys.

Not meant as a criticism, just a bit of an anthropological study.

I made a really horrible chocolate mousse...not enough ingredients but I
tried!! It wasn't too bad, just a bit stodgy and he was a good boy and ate
it all up!! We usually do something for each other, sometimes together eg
cooking together or something.

I used to always shower my DH with gifts for birthday, Valentine, Christmas
however I can't recall a single time in sixteen years we were together ever
receiving any sort of gift or even a card from him on one of these
occasions.

NMR's wife should be counting her blessings.

I used to give him a card in the vain hope he'd take the hint and
reciprocate....Fat chance!

I can't believe you ladies put up with your men for not doing something
romantic even if it is not on valentines day. even though it has gotten
commercialized still at least it is one dy of the year that you can remeber
no matter what and say I love you. How many of us forget birthdays,
annivesaries and so on.
