Well it was much worse than I thought. His right ear was completely
filled up with blood. The left ear, the bad one, was so infected. The
tumors were deep, deep in the canals... with one on the left growing
out of his ear. The vet said he would send Felix to a specialist if
they were to do surgery. And he said AT LEAST $3,000.00. Since I
already paid close to that this year for one surgery, and since the vet
said 'if it were his cat, he'd let him go', I made the decision for
Felix to go to the bridge and FEEL BETTER.

I stopped off at this little knick-knack shop on the way home and
bought a tiny, fury black & white fake kitty that sits on a pillow.

I feel absolutely sick with grief. (((((((((((((

I'm very sorry for your loss. I think you'd already made your mind up
though.

Did you have $3,000.00 to give me? Did you hear what the vet said?? How
RUDE, RUDE, RUDE of you to give me **** about this.

I am not rude. I am not giving you ****. You've been told that
treatment was possible for Felix all over here in the group with a good
outcome with laser treatment. For a cat born in 1999 I would have
borrowed the money from my bank.
That's just me, though.
It costs 3000 dollars for laser treatment? It seems a lot to me. Although
I am surprised by how much American vets ask tbh. I bet they have big
houses and big cars.

This country spans 3537441 square miles, and has three billion people in it.
Just aside from the very bad economic times we are in at the moment, there
is an absolutely huge range from top to bottom in terms of coast of living
and taxation rates between localities. Of course there are some gougers and
cheaters out there, but there are also people who are just doing the best
they can, given the cost of living and doing business in their locality.

in his last moments.

WAS she? (Remember her vet wanted to charge extra for allowing her to
be with Felix during the procedure, and she clearly did not feel she
could afford more than the - excessively high - fee for euthanasia with
her absent.)

NO offense Easier said than done Here in the USA with the economy the way it
is. Everyday in Florida where I live 1400 house are foreclosed everyday.
Banks are not lending to anyone unless you have triple the collateral or
paying so much interest you will lose everything for a small amount
borrowed. Even if you have everything good luck trying to get a bank to
help you.

Laurie Hey take a deep breath. Take a step back PLEASE. This is a bad
day don't let your emotions read what is not there into things. These are
just words there are no emotions behind them to get their full meaning from
the poster.

I am so sorry you are going through this. YOU DID WHAT YOU THOUGHT WAS
RIGHT.

I know it is one of the hardest things that anyone of us can do for our
masters. I cried for days after I had my beloved Spirit PTS on 1/29/2008.
I still do

Please take some time before you come face the newsgroups. We are here for

I'm so sorry for your loss, Laurie. Please accept my sincere condolences.
Purrs are on the way to help heal your broken heart and a candle will be lit
tonight to help guide Felix on his way to the Bridge.

Hugs,

I am so sorry to hear that Felix's ears were so bad. Euthanasia is a
very hard decision to make, but his suffering has ended now. Purrs
and healing thoughts for Felix's RB journey and comfort for you.

I think every country has good and bad vets, just as every country has good
and bad people (humans aren't so different just because they live in
different countries - and if we could only understand that I think there
would be less war in our world). Here in the US, there's a big difference
in vet costs between small towns and large cities (the prices tend to
correlate to the cost-of-living expenses around the country), so it's hard
to say what's reasonable and what's outrageous.

As I said in a previous post, my vet only charged me $80 to come out to my
house (with a vet tech), sit on my bed with me while I held Bandit,
administer a sedative so she would fall asleep peacefully, and then
administer the euthanasia. He also gave me a big hug before he left and
asked me if I needed him to call someone to come stay with me afterwards.

Hugs,

CatNipped

Sending you condolences and many, many purrs that your pain will soon ease.
Remember the love between you and Felix lives on despite the physical
separation.

I hope you were with Felix at the end and held him while the injection was
administered. I did that for each of my cats. It was incredibly painful,
but I think we owe it to our furbabies to give them that last time of love
and comfort.
