Catnip thief
I was about to head out for some errands this morning and Vino wouldn't
come in from the back yard when I called him. I never leave the house without making sure he's inside, so I went round the back to get him. As I rounded the corner of the house, I saw this interloper cat from the neighbourhood in the pot where I grow some catnip. He was a motley kind of tortoiseshell colour and had a red collar on. He was scrunched into the smallish pot and was writhing around on his back, frantically grinding as much nip into his fur as possible. Vino was sitting about a meter away watching with fascination. As soon as interloper noticed me, he ran off and scaled the 7 foot high solid wooden fence. Vino ran after him but of course he's useless at climbing and kept falling off halfway up the fence. He tried a couple of times before I could get to him but it was no use. The catnip thief got away and Vino got the walk of shame back into the house. -- Britta Purring is an automatic safety valve device for dealing with happiness overflow. Yeah, who knows? I always assume all animals are boys until I learn otherwise. Habit. Vino was sitting about a meter away watching with fascination. But, Vino being in the condition he's in, it probably doesn't matter what sex the interloper is, anyway. Joyce |

In spite of being altered, all our male cats have been very male in their behavior, and all the girls have been very ladylike. Even when they were being brats. And the boys seem to let the girls get away with stuff they would beat another boycat up for. Jo |

Poor Mr Vino, although I suspect you're glad he can't climb.
